In the race between Tomás Regalado and Marisol Zenteno, we believe Regalado should take the helm as Miami-Dade Property Appraiser. His platform includes a bolder vision of change, and he has the political experience to help get it done. A former mayor of Miami, Regalado has vowed to travel to Tallahassee and lobby for a larger homestead exemption for homeowners, which Zenteno believes is unrealistic.
On that note, Zenteno does have more experience in the property appraiser’s office – 10 years to be exact. She is also a certified property assessor. Regalado, however, comes with new ideas that could prove valuable to residents. His platform includes incorporating climate change considerations into property appraising, increasing transparency and accessibility, and modernizing online services.
